Sign up for Google Ads to start reaching new customers with online advertising tailored to your business goals and budget. This guide will walk you through creating a Google Ads account and setting up your first ad campaign.


Before starting

To create a Google Ads account, you'll need an email address and a website for your business. Even if you don't have a site, you can still advertise on Google using Smart campaigns, which is the default version of Google Ads for new advertisers. You can also create your first ad in just 15 minutes.


Instruction

Google Ads provides 2 modes when you create an account. The modes are Smart Mode and Expert Mode. By default, you will create an account in Smart Mode. However, if you are a professional marketer, you can switch to Expert Mode.


Smart Mode

When creating an account in Smart Mode, you must also create the first campaign.

1. In Google Ads, sign in to an existing Google Account or create a new one.

If you already have a Google Account (in other words, if you use another Google product, such as Gmail), enter your Google email address and password, then click Sign In.

If you don't have an existing Google Account, or want to use a different email address to sign in, click Create account at the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions to create and confirm your new Google Account.

1. To create your first campaign, set up the following:

Campaign goals

Business and site name

Advertisement (including title, description and phone number)

Keyword theme

Location settings

Budget

2. On the last page, set up your billing information by following these steps:

a. Click the "Billing country" drop-down menu, then select the country or region where your billing address is located. The billing country determines the billing options available for your location and currency.

b. Make sure the correct time zone is selected. If not, click the drop-down menu to change it. Choose your time zone carefully as this affects all your reports, statistics and billing.

c. If you have a promotional code (also known as a coupon or voucher), enter this code in “Introductory offers” and click Apply.

d. You will be asked to select an existing payment profile or create a new one. The default setting for “Account type” is “Organization”, but you can change it to “Individual” if it suits your tax purposes in your country.

e. Enter the information for the payment method you want to use for this account, such as a credit or debit card, PayPal, or bank account.

3. Click Submit to create a campaign and complete account creation.

Once you've created your campaign and set up your account, it will take about a day for your ad to be approved. After that, ads can start showing to potential customers.



Expert Mode

When you create an account in Expert Mode, you can do so with or without a campaign at the start.

1. In Google Ads, sign in to an existing Google Account or create a new one.

If you already have a Google Account (in other words, if you use another Google product, such as Gmail), enter your Google email address and password, then click Sign In.

If you don't have an existing Google Account, or want to use a different email address to sign in, click Create account at the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions to create and confirm your new Google Account.


2. On the “New campaign” page, click Switch to Expert Mode at the bottom of the screen.

From there, you can choose to create an account with or without a campaign by following one of the steps below:


With campaign


1. If you're creating an account with campaigns, you'll need to set up the following:

Campaign goals

Campaign type

Campaign settings and features, depending on the type of campaign you choose

Ad group

Advertisement

Billing, including payment methods


2. Click Submit to create a campaign and complete account creation.


No campaign


1. Click Create account without campaign to skip campaign creation.

2. Confirm your business information, including billing country, time zone, and currency.

3. Click Submit to complete account creation.

To set up a campaign after you've created an account, proceed to setting up the first campaign.
